Legal Notes on Georgia and The South

Today’s Nichols Update

Posted by Maggie on January 3, 2008

Previously, the legislative committee investigating Judge Fuller’s involvement in defense expenses requested financial records from the Judge.

Judge Fuller has now issued a response that he will be unable to comply with the majority of their requests. Judge Fuller sent only public filings and did not send sealed orders or expense requests. It’s unclear how the legislature will respond (I have yet to see anything on the subject in the AJC).

My feelings on the issue are well-documented. All this huffing and puffing by the legislature and the DA aren’t moving things any faster. If anything, they have the potential to delay the case even more. It looks like it might get ugly. Still, I’m dying to be a fly on the wall. You may recall Judge Fuller sent an order to the prosecution and defense asking for their opinions on how he should respond to the legislature’s request. I’d love to know what both sides say and where it may go from here.
